3 sentences AIs love - 3 they ignore
AIs spot patterns. Concrete numbers, Q&A structures and clear instructions get cited. Marketing fluff gets skipped.
AIs spot patterns. Concrete numbers, Q&A structures and clear instructions get cited. Marketing fluff gets skipped.
AIs are pattern-recognition machines. They scan millions of websites and develop a sense for which sentence structures are valuable and which aren't. Knowing that, you write website copy that gets cited.
Sentences with concrete numbers + context.
Example: "In a sample of 1,230 hair salons across Australia, position 1 in the Local Pack averages 246 Google reviews at 4.72 stars."
Why AIs cite it: concrete, verifiable, with source. Reusable across many answers.
Sentences with clear question-answer structure.
Example: "Do I need Apple Business Connect on top of Google? Yes — Apple Intelligence uses it as the primary data source for Siri and Spotlight."
Why: AIs are trained on Q&A data. FAQ structures get cited disproportionately.
Sentences with concrete action instruction.
Example: "Go to businessconnect.apple.com and set up your Apple business profile. Same data as Google: name, address, hours, photos."
Why: AIs get asked for advice. Sentences with clear instruction are directly usable.
Marketing fluff. "We are your reliable partner for highest quality and tailored solutions." These sit on 200,000 websites. AIs skip.
Self-praise without proof. "We are the best workshop in Brisbane." Claim, not fact. AIs only cite what they can verify.
Vague promises. "High customer satisfaction guaranteed." What does that mean? Without a number, a method, a baseline — nothing citable.
Open your website. Look at the first 200 words. How many sentences fall into category A (numbers, Q&A, instruction)? How many into category B (fluff, self-praise, vague promises)?
If the ratio is worse than 1:1, your website has a citation problem. How we systematically rewrite this, here. Where to find original data for citation hooks, here.
